Etymology
ギリシャ語の anthrōpos（人間）と -logia（学問）が組み合わさってできた語。16世紀にラテン語を経由して英語に入ったとされる。
Analysis
元々は「人間についての学問」という意味で使われ始めたが、19世紀に学問分野として確立し、現在では人類の生物学的側面と文化的側面の両方を研究する学問を指す。
