Etymology
ラテン語の auris（耳）に由来し、形容詞化する接尾辞 -alis が付いて、中世ラテン語の aurālis を経て英語に入った。
Analysis
元々は「耳に関する」という意味で、現代でも聴覚や耳に関連する事柄を表す形容詞として使われる。特に教育や医学の分野で「聴覚の」という意味で用いられることが多い。
